Rio Ferdinand - didnt he use to play for us ?
Not that you would have guessed it lby listening to him.

Clearly just see's his time at the club as a stepping stone to his beloved Man utd ,

Not in the least bit happy for us yesterday , Joe Cole in the only one out of that era that left us , that has done so with any dignity to my mind ..

The same Joe Cole who had already refused a new contract? Or the same Joe Cole who scored against us and dived into the Chelsea fans tugging at the badge on his shirt?

I saw this, was him and Scholes doing the post match discussion, Rio was far more concerned at the failure of Man U than the club he started out at finally starting to do well after an awful start to the season and from a bloke who supposedly grew up supporting West Ham I was a bit surprised.

Amazed at the paranoia on here about what pundits, ex WHU or otherwise, said about Saturday to be honest.

Didn't hear what RF said, cos I don't generally care, but he's going to be there as "ex Man Utd" and crucially he's there for his defensive nous so he's bound to concentrate on why they fucked up.

No defender is going to say: fair play, great goal, nothing defence could do about it. I dunno: why are people so BOTHERED? It's media work, international audience, and has it's own agenda and narrative.

Exactly Pikey paranoia is absolute rife on here.... Rio still comes back to the club to have a meet up with the old coaches and spend some time with the kids....hes a decent fella... We are one of a few clubs he's played for and I'm not too sure if he goes back for visits to Leeds Man U or QPR...

Rio played for our first team for 4 years, he played for Man Utds for 12, winning the league 6 times and the Champions League, not to mention domestic cups and World Club Cup. he also works as an ambassador for Man Utd. It's not hard to see why he comes across as more Man Utd than West Ham. It doesn't bother me.

If there’s one thing worse than the bra burning and hysteria that goes on on here when we actually win a game it’s the crying that the “media” who everyone claims to hate and ignore anyway doesn’t give us enough praise.

Ridiculous.

Re: Rio Ferdinand - didnt he use to play for us ?
The narrative on Saturday was 'another shit team thrashes crisis-torn Man U - what the fuck's up?'.

From a quick pre-game glance at the table, this season's results and Man United's honours board, it's difficult to argue that that was the story. On this occasion, I really can't see anything to get cross about. Maybe when we are on a roll and challenging for, um, something, anything, the story would be different.

People seeing us as shit is a good thing. It means they'll probably inderestimate us.

I press mute and turn up the tunes when any pundits are on. The vast majority are clueless when it comes to the lower league clubs, and we're now supposed to endure soppy tarts as an added bonus.

Lily Hammer 9:56 Mon Oct 1
Re: Rio Ferdinand - didnt he use to play for us ?
Most pundits have said what I say. West Ham played well, but Man U were awful, not just because we made it hard for them, but because it seemed they were sleepwalking through the game in disarray. Considering this is the (ex)Mighty Man United we're talking about, their awfulness and disarray make up the real big story this weekend.

After 20 + years of being the Kings of the PL, they have never been like a bunch of jesters than Saturday.

What's to be upset about? This is all excellent entertainment, and ex Man U players crying through their summaries of this beautiful demise is something to cherish, not complain about.
